Kerala Beef Fry Recipe
This spicy dry preparation of beef from the South-Indian state of Kerala. - this is the authentic Kerala Beef Dry Fry recipe.It is served not just as a snack when friends visit, but also as a main course dish with Dosas, Idlis or Appams.
Beef 1 lb ( ½ kg)
Onions(large) - 2 nosChilly powder - 3 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 1/2 tsp
Coconut(finely chopped) - 6 tbsp
Cumin(Jeerakam) powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 2 tsp
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Garlic pods - 8 nos
Cinnamon A couple of 1" piece
Cloves 8 - 10 nos
Vinegar - 3 tsp
Curry leaves - A few
Salt - As reqd
Coconut oil - To fry
Clean and cut the beef into small pieces.
Pound the whole spices (cinnamom & cloves) and keep it aside.
Mix the other spice powders with salt and vinegar.
Chop ginger and garlic into small pieces and mix all these with the beef, adding vinegar. Keep aside for a while.
Meanwhile, cut rings from the coconut and slice into chips. Fry these in hot oil, remove and add to the meat.
Slice onions fine and fry till brown. Drain and keep aside.
Pressure cook the marinated beef till tender.
Heat oil and put in shredded curry leaves and then pour in the meat with the remaining gravy.
Add fried onions and fry well till dry.
